Open Door Baptist Church

Our covenant

Having received the LORD JESUS CHRIST as our personal Saviour and having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; upon our profession of faith we do now in the presence of GOD and this assembly, joyfully enter into this covenant with one another as one body in CHRIST.

We purpose by the help of the Holy Spirit:

  • to walk together in Christian love
  • to work for the advancement of this church, in knowledge and holiness
  • to promote its prosperity and spirituality
  • to continue its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrine
  • to give to it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin
  • to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of this church and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We also purpose by the help of the Holy Spirit:

  • to maintain family and private Bible study
  • to educate our children in the WORD of GOD
  • to seek the salvation of our relatives and others we know
  • to walk carefully in the world
  • to be honest in our dealings and above reproach in our manner of life
  • to avoid all gossiping, backbiting and excessive anger
  • to be zealous in our efforts to advance the work of our Savior

We further purpose by the help of the Holy Spirit:

  • to watch over one another in brotherly love
  • to remember each other in prayer
  • to aid each other in sickness and distress
  • to develop Christian attitudes in feeling and courtesy in speech
  • to be slow in being offended, but always ready to forgive even remembering the rule of our Saviour to do it without delay.

Lastly, we hold the Bible, in the King James Version, to be our only rule for faith and practice and we promise that when we shift from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another Independent Baptist Church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of GOD's WORD.
